School Attendance

Good attendance at school links very closely with a child’s attainment. If children attend for less than 90% of their time, over the years of statutory education this means they lose a complete year of schooling!! Hence we encourage everyone to attend school everyday, on time and ready to learn.
Last year we celebrated as our attendance was up to 93% - a result that we had not been able to achieve for the last 6 years! WELL DONE to everyone!
This year, 2010/11 we want to achieve 94%. By working together – avoiding casual absence and by staying healthy – we will be able to achieve this target. Remember that even if your child is in the nursery, they should attend for all 5 sessions – this ensures that no place is wasted and they begin to develop good attendance habits. In Reception it is very important that the children attend every day as when they turn 5 they must come to school.
Please see our school brochure for more details of the school day and our expectations.
This year – we will be giving the children certificates and awards for 100% attendance each half term. Each week the class with the ‘best’ attendance achieves the class award – currently on Early Years a large cuddly toy– Mr Croc is given out and on our Chestnut Avenue site a large ‘Michael the Meerkat’!

Each half term we will publish the names of those achieving this target.
Our whole school target
for 2010/11
is 94%. Please help us to achieve it.

Remember – come to school every day, arrive on time and come prepared to learn.
